Alexander the Great, AR drachm, Abydos Mint, c. 310-301 BC. The obverse features the head of Alexander the Great as Hercules facing right, wearing a lion skin knotted at the base of the neck. The reverse depicts Zeus seated facing left, nude to the waist and holding an eagle in one out-stretched hand and a scepter in the other. The inscription, “ALEXANDP[OU]” to the right and an “M” to the left; the coin is set within a later 18K gold ring.
Condition: The coin is in fine condition.
