Roman bronze spoon, used throughout the empire during the second century A.D. known as a "cochlear", with a smaller circular bowl and long pointed handle, the latter had the practical purpose of extracting meat from bones and used primarily for eating snails, shellfish, and eggs.

Measurements: 

Condition:  Intact, overall in good condition with minor wear and chipping to extremities.

Provenance:  Private collection of Dr Myron Mintz, acquired from the trade in the early 1970's.
