solid cast, the great dog portrayed as if to pounce, the slender head with long muzzle held high, a collar around the neck, the ears flattened back and both paws extended.  A wonderful example with extraordinary movement, probably a handle terminal.

"Never, with them on guard," says Virgil, "need you fear for your stalls a midnight thief, or onslaught of wolves, or Iberian brigands at your back" (Georgics, III.404ff)

Condition:  Intact and in very good condition overall with fine green/brown patina.  Presented on museum quality custom mount.  Fantastic piece!

Dimensions: Length: 2 3/4 inches (7.2 cm)

Provenance:   Private NY collection, acquired from the NY trade in the early 1970's.
