A black glazed pottery dish with a gently sloping floor and overhanging rim and a concave tondo, the black glaze with reddish overtones near the center. This type of plate was used specifically for eating fish and shellfish as suggested by the many sea-life depictions found on vessels of a similar shape.

Condition:  Loss to the rim and minor chips, glaze worn, otherwise intact and in good condition overall.

Dimensions:  Height: 14cm (5.5in).

Provenance: Private Maryland collection, acquired in the late 1950's.
